23 Mar Pierre’s Story
Being a Personal Trainer, working out and fitness is a lifestyle. I started my company in the beginning of 2015 in Helsingborg, Sweden, and it has been my full time work since then. My opinion of training is that everyone should strive for a quality of living, by exercising correctly and in a varied kind of way; the benefits being a longer and healthier life. I have attended several courses involving olympic lifting, weight training, sport specific performance training and running and I grew up with swimming and Greco-Roman wrestling on a national elite level. I’m a war veteran with 5 years of service in the Swedish Air Assault Squadron with three tours to Afghanistan in 2008 to 2013. Before that, I did a 15 month service as a Swedish Para-Ranger. I also attended the The World Rowing Coastal Championships in Lima, Peru 2015.
In 2008 I bought my first minimalist shoes for running. Five years later I ran my first ever Ultra Marathon “Fjällräven Classic” (110 km) and finished 13th out of 1900. I had begun to understand how important foot function is and how it had changed my ability to move. I met Lee Saxby on a course in 2017, and with BTR in Sweden i became a certified running coach after attending several courses.
Being Nimble to me is a way of being able to adapt to any physical situation with the level of fitness you are. For example, if you have focused a lot on work the past years, gained a lot of weight and lost your motivation to do the daily exercise, then you cannot expect too much of those after work floorball or badminton sessions. You would need some knowledge of which level of training you should start with and work your way towards a more endurance and agile way of training. If you don’t, there would probably be a greater risk of injury, and with that even less movement in your life.
It is my passion to be there, supporting those who don’t know where to start and how to continue. Reaching the knowledge and gaining motivation to be able to keep in shape and continue their journey towards a healthier way of living, inspires me to keep doing what I do.
Commitment starts in the head and ends up in your muscles. It takes time refining those precision movements and learning your body to be an extension of what the mind wants. Learning how to maximize your movement in this process, helps your body become a better tool. With contemporary shoes, the feet can’t function as they were intended to. It is not possible to feel the ground which is important for neural feedback and adapting to the environment.
I recommend Joe Nimble because I feel it is important to return to the origins of foot function. It is however important to bare in mind that the world is not what it used to be, with asphalt covering many trails. I always use Joe Nimble and minimalist shoes at work and in my free time.
